National Instruments, now the T&M division of Emerson is looking for a new Software Engineer. As an intern, you will join a team working on the SystemLink product line. With the help of SystemLink, our customers, manage their Lab equipment remotely, collect data, and can define and execute analytics and reporting at scale, to draw actionable insights that allow them to innovate faster while optimizing their operating costs, maintenance, and uptime!
In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
- Research, propose, and implement high-quality, scalable, and testable designs that align with company and industry guidelines.
- Contribute to software development following an agile process.
- Expand and share knowledge within your team and across other teams/sites.
- Engage in continuous improvement activities to enhance product quality and team efficiency.
You are a motivated and curious problem-solver who enjoys working in collaborative environments. You adapt quickly, embrace learning opportunities, and bring a proactive approach to software development. Your attention to detail and eagerness to explore new technologies make you a strong contributor to team projects.
For This Role, You Will Need:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Strong interest in software engineering and developing scalable applications.
- Willingness to learn modern development practices and technologies.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
- Experience with web application development in a microservices environment (.NET, JavaScript, or equivalent).
- Knowledge of distributed systems and REST/HTTP API design.
- Familiarity with database design (SQL, NoSQL, etc.).
- Understanding of design for testability and message bus frameworks.
- Experience with C++, Python, or Jupyter Hub.
- Exposure to Continuous Delivery practices and cloud providers (AWS or equivalent).
