We are looking for a Lead Architect to join an established computer graphics R&D team within world leading technology company at their research centre in Tampere OR Helsinki.
You will drive the development of an advanced, cross-platform 3D graphics engine. This role focuses on designing cutting-edge rendering solutions, optimizing performance, and guiding a team in delivering high-quality visuals across multiple platforms
As a Lead Architect your responsibilities will include:
- Create and refine advanced rendering features such as real-time ray tracing, global illumination, and complex shading models.
- Develop and optimize rendering pipelines for various platforms (Windows, Android, iOS, MacOS, Linux, our OS).
- Write high-performance C++ and shader code, integrating APIs like Vulkan, OpenGL ES, and Metal.
- Profile, debug, and resolve performance and rendering issues, applying techniques like LOD, culling, and texture streaming.
- Research and implement emerging graphics technologies, including AI-based upscaling and procedural generation.
- Ensure platform-specific rendering adaptability and cross-compatibility.
- Mentor developers, contribute to architectural decisions, and collaborate with artists, designers, and gameplay teams.
- Maintain high code quality through reviews, documentation, and refactoring.
- Plan, scope, and document rendering-related features and roadmaps.
- Validate performance and visual quality across varied hardware.
As a Lead Architect your skills will include:
- 10+ years in graphics programming with proven contributions to commercial or in-house rendering engines.
- Expertise in C++, Vulkan, OpenGL, Metal, GLSL/HLSL, and modern rendering pipelines.
- Deep knowledge of 3D math, geometry, and rendering physics principles.
- Skilled in diagnosing and optimizing performance in complex graphics systems.
- Experience leading technical teams and mentoring engineers.
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
