Looking to have a real impact as a designer, not just move pixels around?
At Pago, we’re building one of the most loved apps in Romania and we’re just getting started.
We’re looking for a product-minded designer to help us scale our products in Romania and across Europe while keeping the experience simple, human, and delightful.
Who We Are
Over 500,000 monthly active users rely on Pago to manage and pay bills to more than 400 providers, covering everything from utilities, insurance, and mobile top-ups to road vignettes, taxes, donations, and even real-time money transfers.
The app is available on iOS and Android, with over 15 million payments processed to date. We’re now expanding across Poland, Italy, and Czechia, with more countries in the pipeline.
You’ll be joining a cross-functional team of 55+ people, on track to grow past 70 within the next 12 months. As part of our tight-knit Design team, you’ll help shape both core and new products across mobile and web. More details are available at pago.ro
About the Role
We’re hiring a full-time Product Designer (Mid–Senior Level) to join our remote team.
You’ll work closely with Product and Engineering to ship thoughtful, accessible, and scalable user experiences.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll design end-to-end flows, contribute to our design system, and help shape how design works at Pago.
We’re looking for someone who’s not just good at design, but thinks in product and is comfortable owning problems, challenging assumptions, and delivering quality at speed.
What you’ll do
Design product flows from discovery through polished UI, collaborating with PMs, developers, and other designers
Own end-to-end features in the app: research, prototype, test, ship, iterate
Contribute to and evolve our ever-evolving design system (we’ve already transitioned to semantic tokens, Figma variables, and white-label customizations)
Leverage AI tools at every step from ideation, UI generation, and copywriting, to testing and handoff
Improve existing experiences with a focus on usability, accessibility, and consistency
Support product decisions with insights from user feedback, analytics, and UX research
Work across domains like bills, insurance, car management, lottery, etc., and contribute to the B2C experiences.
Give and receive feedback in critiques, Figma comments, and async discussion
What We're Looking For
4-6 years of experience designing digital products (mobile and/or web), ideally in a cross-functional product team
Strong UX/UI skills - your portfolio should show thoughtful interaction design, clean visual execution, and design rationale
Comfortable with Figma and other prototyping tools
Experience working within or contributing to a design system
Solid product thinking - you understand user needs, business goals, and technical constraints
Detail-oriented but pragmatic - you know when perfect is the enemy of good
Clear communication skills in English (written and spoken)
Bonus: Familiarity with semantic tokens, accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1), or white-label design challenges
Traits We Value
Initiative over instruction – You don't wait to be told what to do
Collaboration over ego – You work well with PMs, devs, and other designers
Curiosity over comfort – You ask “why,” explore “what if,” and learn constantly
Focus over fluff – You know when to polish and when to ship
Clarity over cleverness – In design, code, and communication
Your First 6 Months
Week 1
Meet your buddy and mentor
Get familiar with the Pago product, brand, and team culture

Month 1
Contribute to small tasks, observe flows, and suggest improvements
