We’re looking for a Backend Developer with strong expertise in building secure, scalable, and high-performance services that power digital platforms. This person will play a key role in shaping cloud-native architectures, driving engineering excellence, and collaborating across teams to deliver reliable and future-ready solutions.
Core Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain backend systems and APIs optimized for scalability, performance, and security.
- Partner with Product, QA, and DevOps teams to refine requirements, ensure robust testing, and automate build, deployment, and monitoring pipelines.
- Apply modern software practices such as TDD, pair programming, CI/CD, and continuous refactoring.
- Conduct code reviews, enforce best practices, and maintain technical documentation aligned with compliance standards.
- Enhance backend services for observability, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
- Contribute to emerging initiatives, including blockchain and smart contract development.
Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or related field.
- Proficiency in backend languages such as Java, Kotlin, Python, Golang, Node.js, or Ruby.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Strong knowledge of REST, GraphQL, gRPC, and event-driven systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
- Skilled in CI/CD pipelines, version control workflows (Git), and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
- Familiarity with microservices, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi), and API documentation tools (Swagger).
- Experience working in Agile teams with a strong grasp of test automation and software craftsmanship principles.
Preferred Experience
- Domain-Driven Design and Clean Architecture.
- Government digital services integration (e.g., SingPass, CorpPass).
- API gateways and service meshes (Kong, Istio, Apigee).
- Serverless platforms (AWS Lambda, Azure Functions).
- Blockchain or smart contract development (Ethereum, Solidity, Hyperledger).

This is a 12-month contract role.
