Network Engineer

We are hiring a Network and Hardware Engineer on a 1-year contract with Dexian, supporting a global MNC engineering client. This role involves on-site server maintenance and hardware replacement activities within shop floor environments, ensuring the server infrastructure remains reliable and performs optimally.

The Network and Hardware Engineer will be responsible for fully supporting, configuring, maintaining, and upgrading networks and in-house servers, as well as installing and integrating new server hardware and applications. They will perform physical inspections of server components, replacing defective hardware when necessary, and carry out regular maintenance tasks such as BIOS firmware upgrades and patch management according to organizational guidelines. The role requires careful planning and scheduling of maintenance activities to minimize business impact, coordinating logistics for hardware replacements, and collaborating with vendors for timely repairs. The engineer will continuously monitor server health using enterprise monitoring tools, maintain detailed hardware and software configuration records, and ensure compliance with Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMC). Additional responsibilities include managing data storage networks, ensuring network security and connectivity, operating master consoles to monitor system performance, and performing routine network startup and shutdown procedures. They will also analyze equipment performance to determine repair needs, maintain logs of network and maintenance activities, keep critical spares or maintenance agreements, and ensure secure installation and management of network equipment and software with necessary approvals.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of server hardware and network infrastructure, with proven hands-on experience in networking, routing, switching, and server administration. They should be familiar with backup and recovery software and methodologies, and capable of performing BIOS firmware upgrades and patch management. Excellent communication and collaboration skills are essential, as is the ability to work safely and effectively in shop floor environments while adhering to safety protocols. Experience coordinating logistics for hardware replacements is important. The candidate should demonstrate great organizational skills, the ability to prioritize and multitask efficiently, and be comfortable working under defined conditions, following established procedures and guidelines consistently.
