Network Engineer

Job Title: Network Engineer (Wi-Fi Infrastructure) 50% Remote and 50% on site - per week

What you’ll be doing

• Take ownership of the day-to-day management of our Wi-Fi infrastructure and Cisco SDA environment, including scheduled maintenance, firmware upgrades, and configuration adjustments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve Wi-Fi related incidents and tickets while proactively identifying opportunities for structural improvements.
• Contribute to the design, rollout, and maintenance of network infrastructure across all WUR locations, with regular on-site presence.
• Conduct independent site surveys, collecting, interpreting, and documenting results to support optimal wireless performance.
• Support the underlying infrastructure (border and edge switches) that ensures smooth operation of the wireless network.
• Collaborate closely with other technical teams, strengthening cross-team knowledge and reinforcing the broader infrastructure ecosystem.

What you bring

• Clear and good hands-on experience managing enterprise Wi-Fi networks, ideally within Cisco-based environments.
• Strong communication skills in both spoken and written Dutch.
• In-depth understanding of Wi-Fi standards
• Flexibility to participate in occasional on-call/consignment duties.
• Relevant certification (e.g., CWNA, ENWLSI) or a willingness to obtain it in the short term.
• Familiarity with Cisco Catalyst Center is an advantage, you’ll be actively working with it in this position.
