About The Role
SimIS Inc. is seeking a skilled UI/UX Designer to support NATO HQ Supreme Allied Command Transformation (NATO SACT). The successful candidate will play a vital role in capturing, developing, and ensuring the quality of capability requirements and operational analysis necessary for adapting to future threats and shaping NATO’s long-term military strategies. The role involves collaborating closely with NATO Capability Program Managers and project teams to apply User-Centered Design (UCD) best practices throughout the entire software development lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience designing complex web and mobile applications, conducting user research, and working within Agile/DevSecOps environments. This position offers the flexibility of remote work, allowing the candidate to contribute to critical national security projects from anywhere.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, computer science, or a related field
- Certification in UI Design, UX Analysis, or Human-Centered Design
- Minimum of four (4) years of industry experience in UI/UX design for complex web and/or mobile applications
- Strong skills in user research, usability testing, and user-centered design methodologies
- Experience working within Agile/DevSecOps environments, including backlog refinement with Product Managers
- Proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, Axure, or InVision
- Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG, Section 508) and inclusive design principles
- Ability to produce deliverables including wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups
- Portfolio demonstrating previous design solutions and methodologies
- Support product teams by applying User-Centered Design (UCD) best practices throughout the software development lifecycle
- Engage with end users during the agile product development process to ensure solutions meet operational needs
- Establish feedback loops with customers and utilize the Build–Measure–Learn cycle for iterative product improvements
- Conduct user research through interviews, usability testing, and surveys to validate design assumptions
- Create design artifacts such as sketches, user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and interactive prototypes
- Ensure all design work complies with accessibility standards (WCAG, Section 508) and follows industry best practices for inclusive design
- Collaborate with Product Managers on backlog refinement and prioritization to align design efforts with business value
- Provide clarification and support to developers during implementation to ensure user expectations are met
- Participate actively in cross-functional Agile/DevSecOps teams, including standups, demos, and retrospectives
- Present and communicate design decisions effectively to stakeholders and senior leadership
