Trainee Software Engineer

Kick-start your career as a Software Engineer!

We’re looking for a motivated Junior Software Engineer with a passion for building scalable and high-quality software. You’ll work with modern technologies like Kotlin and other JVM languages, collaborate with experienced engineers, and receive hands-on training and mentoring to boost your growth and impact from day one.

About the role

At Xccelerated, you’ll help design, implement, and optimize software systems that power real-world applications. Together with our partners, you’ll work on innovative projects that push boundaries in cloud-native development, automation, and modern software architecture.

The Xccelerated program (Year 1)

• 2 full-time weeks of bootcamp training covering software engineering best practices, clean code, testing, and DevOps fundamentals.
• 4 days a week you’ll work as a Software Engineer at one of our partner organizations.
• Every Friday you’ll receive continuous training and coaching from Xccelerated’s Tech Leads.
• After your first year, you’ll join the client directly as a fully equipped Software Engineer.

What you’ll do

• Design and implement scalable, reliable, and maintainable software solutions.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-tested code following industry best practices.
• Collaborate closely with other engineers to improve code quality, development processes, and tooling.
• Contribute to a culture of learning, innovation, and teamwork.

What you bring

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cloud Computing, or a related technical field.
• Programming experience in Kotlin or other JVM-based languages (e.g. Java, Scala, Python).
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Availability to start short-term / immediately.
• Willingness to work in a hybrid setup (our office is based in Amsterdam).
