We’re looking for a versatile engineer to join our client team, taking end-to-end ownership of a data-model platform and public-facing APIs. Your mission will be to design scalable data architectures, integrate statistical models directly with the database layer, and deliver high-performance, secure API services.

What you will do

• Design and version PostgreSQL / ArcticDB schemas for raw, intermediate and final model data.
• Integrate statistical models directly into the database layer using psycopg2, SQLAlchemy or ArcticDB native APIs.
• Build and maintain secure, high-performance FastAPI/REST APIs.
• Develop internal Python libraries to streamline interaction with internal and external databases.
• Optimise database performance: query tuning, indexing, partitioning, monitoring and alerting.
• Produce technical documentation, schema diagrams, and enforce best practices in version control.
• Ensure code quality standards through testing, Git workflows, linting and static typing.

Tech Stack

• Python (OOP, design patterns, Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, Matplotlib)
• Database & SQL: PostgreSQL schema design, ArcticDB, query optimisation, psycopg2, SQLAlchemy/ORM, migration scripts
• APIs: FastAPI / REST API development
• Versioning & Quality: Git (branching, PR reviews, tagging), pytest, flake8/black, mypy

Location: Lisbon – hybrid model (2 days per week onsite)
