A Design Technologist in the iOS design systems team acts as the bridge between product designers and iOS engineers, helping build consistent, scalable, and high-quality mobile experiences. This role is ideal for someone who can take design ideas and Figma prototypes and convert them into reusable, production-ready SwiftUI components that power the iOS UI across products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with designers to translate high-fidelity UI designs into interactive, reusable SwiftUI components.
  • Build and maintain iOS design-system components, ensuring visual and functional consistency across apps.
  • Develop accessible (WCAG 2.1 compliant), performant, and responsive iOS interfaces, with support for internationalization and localization.
  • Implement and manage design tokens using tools like Figma Tokens, Token Studio, and Style Dictionary.
  • Ensure alignment with Apple Human Interface Guidelines and iOS design conventions.
  • Document component usage, contribute to internal design system guidelines, and help enforce UI consistency at scale.
  • Work within Agile teams, actively participating in sprints and design-development handoffs.
  • Collaborate closely with iOS engineers to define scalable UI architecture and reusable design patterns.

Requirements & Skills:

Experience & Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of experience in iOS development, mobile UI engineering, or related roles.
  • Hands-on experience building or contributing to a design system.
  • Bachelor’s degree in HCI, Interaction Design, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in Swift and SwiftUI.
  • Experience with reusable UI component design and theming in iOS.
  • Experience with design token frameworks and plugins (e.g., Figma Tokens, Style Dictionary).
  • Knowledge of iOS accessibility best practices (WCAG 2.1, VoiceOver).
  • Hands-on with Xcode, Git, and package managers like CocoaPods or Swift Package Manager.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Design & UX Skills

  • Advanced skills in Figma — components, tokens, libraries, and prototyping.
  • Deep understanding of Apple HIG, motion design, and interaction principles.
  • Understanding of UX principles, inclusive design, and usability standards (e.g., ISO 9241).

Soft Skills

  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Proactive problem solver with a keen eye for detail and consistency.
  • Analytical mindset: driven by feedback, data, and iterative improvements.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently on system-wide contributions.
