Salt has partnered with a leader in the Australian tertiary education sector, based in Melbourne, you’ll join the team to grow your career as a Network Engineer with a focus on Infrastructure-as-code.


We’re looking for a technically curious and forward-thinking Network Engineer, with exposure working with Ansible and/or Python, and eager to help drive a transformation in the build, deployment, and management of networks. You’ll join a highly collaborative team, with supportive management who foster and encourage the opportunity for career growth, and long-term success within the organisation.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage and support the enterprise network infrastructure (LAN, WAN, wireless, firewalls, and load balancers).
  • Collaborate with architecture and operations teams to design scalable, secure, and automated network solutions.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts and playbooks using Ansible and/or Python to streamline network provisioning and management.
  • Participate in the ongoing evolution of our Infrastructure-as-Code practices — helping bridge traditional networking with modern DevOps methodologies.
  • Troubleshoot complex network issues, ensuring high availability and optimal performance.


What We’re Looking For

  • 3–5 years’ experience in network engineering, network administration, or system engineering.
  • Strong understanding of Cisco and/or Juniper network technologies, routing/switching, and core network protocols.
  • Some practical exposure to Ansible, Python, or other automation tools — and a strong desire to grow those skills further.
  • Familiarity with concepts like CI/CD, version control (Git), and network programmability.
  • A collaborative mindset and willingness to embrace change in how networks are managed and deployed.
