About The Role

Join The Paranoids, Yahoo’s elite cybersecurity team. We’re seeking an early-career Software Engineer with a strong foundation in programming and a drive to secure the digital frontier.

As part of this collaborative team, you'll play an important role in advancing our secure software development life cycle (SDLC) practices. You’ll participate in adapting and customizing open-source software to address evolving security risks.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with security engineers and architects to integrate security best practices into the SDLC.
  • Develop and maintain our backend solutions and internal tools to support Yahoo's SDLC process.
  • Contribute to automation frameworks and security tools to identify vulnerabilities and promote secure-by-default practices.
  • Learn and apply secure coding standards while leveraging available mentoring and training opportunities.
  • Respond to evolving security risks by participating in the adaptation and customization of open-source software.

Who You Are

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1-3 years of professional experience with Golang, including familiarity with standard libraries and concurrency patterns.
  • Demonstrated eagerness to collaborate and learn within a multidisciplinary, globally distributed team.
  • Enthusiasm for problem-solving, comfort with backend services, and an interest in secure system design.
  • A foundational understanding of software development principles: version control, CI/CD, testing, and debugging.
  • Excellent communication skills and a commitment to continuous learning.

Bonus Points

  • Exposure to containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), cloud infrastructure, or automation tooling.
  • Experience with SDLC security practices, code scanning, or secure code review.
