Role Overview
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Data Analyst to join our team. The role will focus on analyzing large datasets, generating actionable insights, and supporting strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will have strong data management skills, financial domain knowledge (preferably in Regulatory Reporting, Risk, and Compliance for corporate banking products), and the ability to communicate findings in a clear, business-oriented manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, clean, and validate data from multiple banking systems (loan management, treasury, trade finance, payments).
- Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis on corporate banking portfolios (lending, deposits, trade finance, treasury products).
- Work with stakeholders to identify business needs and translate them into data-driven solutions.
- Conduct trend, variance, and scenario analysis to support pricing, profitability, and client segmentation.
- Ensure compliance with data governance, risk, compliance, and regulatory reporting standards (e.g., Basel III/IV, MAS, HKMA, IFRS9, BCBS 239).
- Partner with technology teams to improve data pipelines, automate reporting, and implement advanced analytics use cases.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Finance, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience as a Data Analyst, ideally within banking or financial services.
- Familiarity with statistical analysis tools (Python, R).
- Good understanding of corporate banking products (loans, deposits, trade finance, treasury, payments).
- Strong knowledge of risk and regulatory frameworks including:
- Basel III/IV capital & liquidity reporting
- IFRS9 credit risk modeling
- BCBS 239 data aggregation principles
- AML/KYC data management compliance
- Local regulatory standards (e.g., MAS, HKMA, RBI, APRA)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Excellent communication skills to translate technical data into business insights.
Preferred Attributes
- Experience in regulatory reporting platforms (AxiomSL, Wolters Kluwer, Moody’s Risk Authority, SAS Regulatory Reporting).
- Experience in data warehousing, ETL, or big data platforms (Snowflake, Hadoop, Spark).
- Exposure to machine learning techniques for credit/risk scoring or client segmentation.
- Strong business acumen with an ability to connect data insights to revenue, cost, and risk drivers.
- Ability to work in cross-functional teams within a fast-paced banking environment.
Knowledge and Attributes:
- Advanced proficiency in maintaining automation systems and / or applications.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills to identify, diagnose, and resolve complex technical issues.
- Applies advanced logical thinking and troubleshooting methodologies to isolate problems and implement effective solutions.
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of relevant technologies, systems, and tools.
- Ability to stay updated with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to provide expert advice and recommendations.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear and understandable language.
- Collaborates and work effectively with cross-functional teams to address technical challenges and achieve project goals.
- Project management skills to contribute to technology projects, including planning, coordination, and tracking of tasks and deliverables.
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the ever-evolving field of technology.
- Advanced technical skills, such as programming languages, database management, system architecture, and IT infrastructure knowledge.
Academic Qualifications and Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

- Advanced experience in progressively responsible technical roles, demonstrating advanced technical expertise and leadership capabilities.
- Advanced experience working with complex systems end to end.
- Advanced experience documenting IT processes and procedures.
