About the Role

As a Full Stack Developer, you will be responsible for designing software and architecture that redefine the digital experience for both our in-house teams and customers. As part of our Digital Products Engineering team, you will combine your technical expertise with a proactive mindset to continuously enhance internal and external user experiences.

If preferred, the role may initially focus on backend development, with opportunities and support to expand into frontend technologies over time.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, enhance, re-engineer, and maintain applications using Scala or Java.
• Contribute to the overall design and architecture of applications, including online products and internal data distribution systems.
• Collaborate with business users to understand requirements and troubleshoot issues.
• Implement your own projects based on functional specifications.
• Find innovative and creative solutions to complex business and data challenges.
• Stay up-to-date on competitor products, market trends, and emerging technologies.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement across the department.

Required Qualification:

• Solid experience as a Full Stack Developer.
• Strong proficiency in a JVM language (Scala, Java, or Kotlin).
• Experience working within an AWS / microservices environment and building, scaling, and maintaining ETL architectures.
• Self-driven and capable of independently acquiring new technical skills.
• Knowledge of IaC tools such as Terraform is a plus.
• Experience using AI in application development is a plus.
• Familiarity with NoSQL databases is advantageous.
• Experience with XML-based databases like MarkLogic, as well as XSLT, is a plus.
• Understanding of or interest in the publishing industry is beneficial.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating your technical expertise.
• Excellent communication skills in English; German is a plus.
