Android Software Design Engineer

Randstad Digital is looking for an Android Software Design Engineer for a client in Belgium. This position will involve working on a cutting-edge project related to the Android Tactical Assault Kit (ATAK), an advanced Android-based application used for mission planning, geospatial tasks, Full Motion Video (FMV) processing, and system administration.

Project Overview: The client has acquired ATAK and is looking to develop plugins for ATAK through the provided SDK. However, the client currently lacks internal expertise in Android application development, particularly around ATAK plugin creation. The consultant will help the department build this expertise and assist with the Third Party Pipeline procedure to validate the plugins developed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead a team focused on creating plugins for the ATAK platform.
• Share expertise on Android application development, specifically in Kotlin.
• Ensure the team follows up-to-date development practices and methodologies.
• Guide the team in developing ATAK plugins using the provided SDK.
• Support the team in understanding and implementing the Third Party Pipeline to validate plugins.

Requirements:

• Android Application Development: Proven experience in developing Android applications, particularly in Kotlin and Java.
• Kotlin and Java: Strong knowledge of both programming languages.
• App Publishing: Experience in publishing Android applications on the Google Play Store.
• ATAK Knowledge: Knowledge of ATAK is required. Experience with the TAK Dev Tool and publishing plugins in the TAK Product Center is highly preferred.
• Education: A Master's degree in IT Engineering or Electronics Engineering is preferred.
• Language: Professional proficiency in English is required.

• Published an ATAK Plugin: Junior (most recent experience at any time).
• Java and Kotlin Scripting: Junior (most recent experience at any time).
• Mobile Application Development: Confirmed (most recent experience at any time).
• Degree: Master’s degree in IT Engineering or Electronics Engineering (Junior level).
