Job Title: Senior Software Engineer – Event-Driven Systems (Kotlin / GCP / Terraform)
About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join a global retail technology team transforming large-scale warehouse and store systems from legacy monoliths into modern, event-driven, cloud-native architectures.
You’ll work on products that power operations across 420+ stores and distribution centers worldwide, helping 170,000 co-workers process over 7 million customer returns every year. This is a chance to build high-quality, scalable software that directly impacts operational efficiency and customer experience globally.
What You’ll Do
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Kotlin/Java (Spring Boot/Cloud).
- Build new features, integrations, and event-driven workflows in GCP environments.
- Use Terraform for infrastructure as code, ensuring reproducible and automated deployments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve performance, scalability, and user experience.
- Participate in all stages of product development – from ideation and design to deployment and support.
- Apply best practices (SOLID, DRY) and support teammates through knowledge sharing and reviews.
- Continuously explore modern technologies to drive innovation and development productivity.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong experience with Kotlin/Java, Spring Boot, and microservice architectures.
- Solid understanding of event-driven systems and cloud-native applications.
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Kubernetes.
- Proficiency with Terraform and DevOps automation practices.
- Experience working in agile, DevOps-oriented environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, collaboration mindset, and a passion for clean, maintainable code.
