We are looking for a motivated and aspiring Backend Engineer to grow with our Batches team in Amsterdam. As a Junior Backend Engineer, you'll join a Product team in our Business Banking value stream within the R&D department. You will focus on the core of our banking solutions: building and maintaining the systems that process high volumes of payments efficiently and securely. This is a fantastic opportunity to build your career in FinTech and learn how to create reliable, large-scale banking experiences. Meet the job

As part of the Batches team, you will contribute to new and existing functionalities, help with proof of concepts, and learn to make technical improvements to our Digital Banking Platform. Your autonomous team is responsible for the entire software development life cycle. You'll be supported by senior engineers and are expected to grow your ownership over what you build. You will proactively collaborate with architects, QA engineers, and other team members, learning our technical vision and best practices every step of the way.Business Banking squads follow Scrum with two-week sprints, and the company delivering product increments in monthly releases

How about you?

• You have a foundational understanding of software development, perhaps from your studies, personal projects, or an internship.
• You are a clear and curious communicator, not afraid to ask questions.
• You have a strong interest in the banking domain or FinTech products.
• You have good communication skills in English, spoken and written.
• You have a basic understanding of Java and perhaps build tools like Maven.
• You've had some exposure to relational databases and frameworks like Spring.
• You are eager to learn about microservices, cloud technologies, and CI/CD pipelines.
• You have an awareness of important concepts like security, performance, and scalability and are keen to learn more.
