We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive cybersecurity professional to join a government organisation’s Digital and Technology Services team on a 6 + 6 month contract based in Melbourne's Inner South-East suburbs.
Candidates are required to have a strong background and demonstrated proficiency in the following essential areas:
- Essential Eight Maturity Compliance
- Microsoft Defender Suite
- Microsoft Server Environments and Hardening Practices
- Palo Alto Products
THE ROLE
This role is pivotal in building and maintaining an Information Cyber Security Program, with a primary focus on strategy, design, and ensuring maximum security and service continuity across a diverse IT infrastructure.
- Cyber Security Strategy: Drive the Digital and Technology Services Cyber Roadmap, implementing controls aligned with industry standards
- Risk & Vulnerability Management: Develop threat models, conduct security risk assessments, and recommend effective mitigations.
- Incident Response: Work collaboratively with the D&T team to manage security incidents, focusing on continuous improvement across prevention, detection, and response controls.
- Policy & Training: Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and documentation, as well as ensure the ongoing development of Cyber Security training programs.
- Technical Administration: Manage and troubleshoot security across infrastructure including VMware, HP switching, Exchange (Hybrid), and SIEM platforms.
ABOUT YOU
- A minimum of 5+ years of dedicated experience in a Cyber Security Consulting role and an Engineering background.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing cybersecurity frameworks, governance, and reporting, ideally within government organisations.
- High level analytical and investigative skills.
- Strong working knowledge of SIEM platforms and other key security systems.
- Excellent communication skills to influence, advise, and negotiate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders up to the executive level.
- Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science or Cyber Security.
