Therefore, Thomas Thor is currently seeking a Data Analyst Intern and this position is based at our office in Amsterdam.


Internship details


Location: Amsterdam (Hybrid)

Duration: 3-4 months

Start Date: 1st of December 2025

  • Working hours: Full-time (40 hours/week) or part-time option is also available
  • Work model: Hybrid – 2 days in our Amsterdam office, 3 days remote (for full-time)
  • Pro-rata internship compensation



What You Do As a Data Analyst


Workforce Modeling Tool Specification

The requirement is to develop a workforce modeling tool to support strategic planning, resource allocation, and scenario analysis for Thomas Thor to use in conjunction with its clients. The tool should enable users to simulate workforce changes, forecast staffing needs, and evaluate cost implications under various scenarios.


The tool will need to be able to:

  • Model current workforce structure and dynamics
  • Simulate future workforce scenarios (e.g., growth, attrition, hiring)
  • Analyze cost, productivity, and skill gaps
  • Provide intuitive dashboards and exportable reports


Scope of Work to include:

a. Core Features

  1. Data Input Module: Upload/import workforce data (CSV, Excel, API)

2. Modeling Engine:

2.2. Define roles, departments, and skill sets

2.3. Apply attrition, hiring, promotion, and retirement rules

2.4. Time-based simulation (monthly/quarterly/yearly)

3. Scenario Builder:

3.1. Create and compare multiple workforce scenarios

3.2. Adjust parameters (e.g., hiring rate, budget constraints)

4. Analytics & Reporting:

4.1. Visual dashboards (headcount, cost, skill distribution)

4.2. Exportable reports (PDF, Excel)

5. User Management:

5.1. Role-based access (Admin, Analyst, Viewer)


b. Technical Requirements

  1. Platform: Web-based (responsive design)
  2. Backend: Python or Node.js (open to alternatives)
  3. Frontend: React or Angular
  4. Database: PostgreSQL or equivalent
  5. Hosting: Cloud-based (AWS, Azure, or similar)
  6. Security: GDPR-compliant, secure authentication


c. Integration

  1. Optional API integration with HR systems (e.g., SAP, Workday)
  2. Optional Single Sign-On (SSO) support


Deliverables

  • Functional prototype (Month 1)
  • Beta version with core features (Month 2)
  • Final version with full functionality and documentation (Month 3)
  • User manual and training materials


Who We’re Looking For


  • Currently enrolled at a Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree at an accredited Dutch university, preferably in Business, Economics, Data Science, Computer Science, or other technology- and information-related fields
  • Has the above-mentioned technical requirements
  • Passionate about making a difference in the fight against climate change
  • Motivated, proactive, and eager to contribute and have an impact during the internship
  • Strong command of English
