Your Role And Responsibilities
We are now looking for new Senior Design Engineers at ABB Oy, Distribution Solutions in Vaasa and Tampere. In this role you will be responsible for developing and maintaining software components for our embedded Linux platform.
You will also be working in a global R&D team in the front line of protection applications and state-of-the-art technologies.

Your Role And Responsibilities
We are now looking for new Senior Design Engineers at ABB Oy, Distribution Solutions in Vaasa and Tampere. In this role you will be responsible for developing and maintaining software components for our embedded Linux platform.
You will also be working in a global R&D team in the front line of protection applications and state-of-the-art technologies.
The Work Model For This Role Is
You will mainly be accountable for:
- Building various software components for our embedded Linux platform
- Work between kernel and communication protocols depending on your competence and
- expertise
- Co-operating with other designers / team members in case of new development activities and
- maintenance
- Globally co-operating with other functions starting from product requirement specification to final product
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field
- At least 5 years of experience from embedded Linux software development with knowledge on
- standard Linux GNU development tools, Linux system architecture and software stacks
- Solid C/C++ programming knowledge
- Knowledge of toolchains like Yocto or Buildroot and modern software architecture
- Understanding of network security and TCP/IP communication protocols
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken
- Team player with capability for independent work as well
- Competence in .NET, Test automation and /or IEC 61850-8-1 and IEC 61850-9-2 standards are seen as an advantage
