Codertal is seeking an exceptional Android Tech Lead (Principal Engineer) to provide technical leadership for a high-impact mobile initiative within a large enterprise environment. In this role, you will guide the technical direction for Android, influence mobile strategy across platforms, and collaborate in a cross-functional setup to deliver best-in-class digital experiences for millions of users.

While Android will be your primary focus, strong knowledge of iOS is highly beneficial, as the role includes leading feature design and delivery across both platforms. You will engage closely with backend and platform engineering teams to ensure end-to-end technical excellence.

This is a unique opportunity to lead mobile strategy, modernize codebases, shape platform evolution, and build cutting-edge user experiences — from booking and self-service flows to real-time travel or event-driven features depending on the product domain.

As the Android Tech Lead, you’ll take ownership of:

📱 Mobile Product & Feature Strategy

• Architecting innovative solutions that enhance the full mobile experience — from discovery and onboarding to core workflows.
• Driving personalization, intuitive UX, and mobile-centric capabilities (e.g., wallets, widgets, location services, mapping, real-time data).

🧩 Platform & Codebase Modernisation

• Steering Android technical strategy, modern architecture, and code quality across teams.
• Leading efforts for reusable components, shared libraries, and modular codebases across Android (and potentially iOS).
• Evolving API consumption models (REST, GraphQL, event-driven).

⚙️ Engineering Excellence & Delivery

• Setting strong engineering standards for scalability, maintainability, and performance.
• Enhancing CI/CD, testing automation, and release strategies.
• Leading critical initiatives and ensuring on-time delivery of major product features.

🤝 Leadership & Mentorship

• Coaching senior and mid-level engineers; uplifting the mobile engineering community.
• Advocating best practices across squads; influencing architecture and product decisions.
• Representing mobile engineering in cross-functional forums.

Experience & Leadership

• 10+ years in Android development, with 3+ years leading engineering teams and driving tech decisions.
• Track record of shaping mobile architecture and leading enterprise-scale mobile products.

Technical Expertise

• Deep proficiency with Android, Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, modular architectures, and performance optimization.
• Strong understanding of mobile DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing strategies, and release management.
• Experience with GraphQL, REST, security, and integrating with cloud services (AWS experience an advantage).
• Familiarity with cross-platform and shared-code strategies (e.g., KMP) is a plus.

Product & Delivery Mindset

• Strong business acumen — capable of balancing technical quality with business needs.
• Excellent communication skills, able to influence at senior stakeholder level.
• Proven experience shipping and scaling high-traffic consumer apps.

• Experience in highly regulated or complex industries (banking, travel, transportation, eCommerce, etc.).
• Accessibility leadership (WCAG), A/B testing, advanced analytics experience.
• Strong background in performance engineering and enterprise-level integrations.
