Clarvo is recruiting on behalf of a client, a key organization within the logistics and supply chain sector dedicated to optimizing global trade flows through advanced analytics. They are currently seeking a Mid-Level Data Scientist to join their established data team. This is a full-time, permanent position based in Espoo, offering a flexible hybrid work model. Successful candidates must be proficient in either English or Finnish.


Role Overview

As a Data Scientist, you will be instrumental in analyzing complex datasets to optimize routing, forecast demand, and improve operational efficiency. You will work closely with logistics managers and software engineers to develop and implement data-driven solutions that have a direct impact on the company's performance. The role involves the full data science lifecycle, from data exploration and feature engineering to model development and deployment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining statistical models and machine learning algorithms to address specific supply chain challenges.
  • Analyzing large-scale datasets to identify actionable insights and trends.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into data science projects.
  • Communicating complex findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Monitoring the performance of deployed models and iterating on them for continuous improvement.
  • Ensuring data quality and integrity throughout the analysis pipeline.


Required Qualifications and Experience

  • A university degree (MSc or PhD preferred) in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Proven commercial experience (minimum 3 years) in a data scientist or data analyst role, preferably within logistics or a related industry.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and extensive experience with its data science ecosystem (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow/PyTorch).
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL for data querying and manipulation.
  • Demonstrable experience in building and deploying predictive models in a production environment.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (such as Tableau, Power BI, or Matplotlib) to present findings.


Skills and Competencies

  • A strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work autonomously and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP) is highly advantageous.
  • Experience with big data technologies (like Spark) is considered a plus.
