PHP Developer

We’re a fast-growing European cloud infrastructure & managed services provider powering high-performance hosting and managed Kubernetes for tech teams. We’re looking for an experienced Senior PHP / Laravel Backend Engineer to help build scalable, secure backend systems that run on modern cloud platforms.

What you’ll be doing

• Design, build and maintain backend services and APIs using PHP (8+) and Laravel.
• Implement robust database schemas and optimised queries (MySQL/Postgres).
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, containerised builds (Docker) and cloud deployments (Kubernetes).
• Integrate with caches, message queues and observability tooling (Redis, RabbitMQ/Kafka, Prometheus/ELK).
• Own features from design to production: write tests (PHPUnit), perform code reviews, and troubleshoot live incidents.
• Collaborate with DevOps and platform teams to design services that are secure, observable and cost-efficient.
• Mentor junior engineers and help evolve engineering practices and architecture.

What we’re looking for

• 4+ years professional experience with PHP and Laravel (or similar frameworks).
• Strong SQL skills and experience with MySQL or Postgres at scale.
• Practical experience with Docker and deploying applications to container platforms; familiarity with Kubernetes a big plus.
• Solid understanding of RESTful API design; experience with GraphQL is a plus.
• Experience with automated testing (unit, integration) and CI systems (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, etc.).
• Comfortable debugging production issues and working with observability tools (logs/metrics/tracing).
• Fluent English (spoken & written); German is optional but helpful for some customer-facing work.
• Team player with good communication skills and a pragmatic, security-minded approach.

Nice to have

• Previous experience at an infrastructure, hosting or managed-services company.
• Familiarity with cloud networking, DDoS mitigation patterns or edge DNS/hosting services.
• Experience with PHP performance tuning and profiling.
• Knowledge of Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code tools.
