DevOps Engineer – AI & High-Scale Systems

I’m partnering with a rapidly growing organisation operating at the forefront of applied AI, building secure, enterprise-grade platforms used across multiple sectors. They combine deep research, strong engineering standards, and real-world impact, and they’re now expanding their DevOps function to support large-scale AI deployments.

This role is ideal for someone who loves automation, scalability, and building resilient infrastructure that supports complex AI workloads.

The Role

As a DevOps Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain the infrastructure that powers high-performance AI systems. You’ll partner closely with development, ML engineering, and product teams to ensure fast, reliable, and secure delivery pipelines — across both cloud and on-prem environments.

What You’ll Be Doing

CI/CD & Deployment

• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to improve delivery speed and reliability.
• Work closely with developers to ensure seamless, repeatable deployments.

Infrastructure Engineering

• Build and manage scalable environments for AI model training, deployment, and lifecycle management.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning using IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, etc.).
• Optimise cloud and hybrid setups for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.

Systems & Reliability

• Manage queueing systems, distributed workloads, and real-time streaming pipelines.
• Monitor production systems for uptime, latency, and performance.
• Deploy and maintain observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog, etc.).
• Track both system health and ML model performance metrics.

Operational Excellence

• Conduct root-cause analysis and post-mortems to strengthen system reliability.
• Drive best practices around architecture, security, performance, and deployment.
• Collaborate cross-functionally on new features and releases.

Security & Compliance

• Ensure infrastructure aligns with security frameworks (e.g., SOC2, ISO27001).
• Manage secrets safely using tools like Vault or AWS Secrets Manager.

On-Call Support

• Participate in a rotating schedule to support critical production systems.

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Strong scripting ability (Python, Bash, or Go).
• Experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Hands-on knowledge of containerisation & orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Proficiency with CI/CD tooling (Azure DevOps, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, CircleCI, etc.).
• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, New Relic, or PagerDuty.
• Solid understanding of DNS, networking concepts, load balancers, and firewalls.
• Experience with real-time data or streaming architectures is beneficial.

Bonus / Preferred Experience

• Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Pulumi).
• Service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd).
• Experience with VectorDBs, distributed databases, SQL/NoSQL.
• Background in high-traffic or mission-critical production systems.
