Sydney | Build DevOps from Scratch | $180k + Super | Permanent
We’re partnering with a rapidly scaling SaaS company that is building a completely new product from the ground up. They are hiring a Lead DevOps Engineer to design, build and own the cloud infrastructure and DevOps ecosystem for this new greenfield application.
This is a career-defining opportunity for a senior DevOps professional who wants to step into a leadership-oriented role while remaining deeply hands-on. You’ll architect the deployment target state for the new platform and guide long-term improvements across the existing product suite.
About the Role
You’ll be responsible for designing and building all AWS infrastructure, implementing modern CI/CD pipelines, establishing Kubernetes environments, and building a robust observability and security baseline. You’ll also mentor engineers, influence tooling and architectural decisions, and set the DevOps direction company-wide.
The company’s current deployment processes are slow and not optimally structured, so this role is critical in driving automation, reducing release cycles, and enabling scalable SaaS delivery—including automated onboarding of new customers and datasets.
What We’re Looking For
• 7+ years in DevOps, Cloud Engineering or SRE roles
• Proven experience designing greenfield cloud infrastructures
• Strong AWS expertise (networking, IAM, security)
• Hands-on experience running Kubernetes clusters (EKS preferred)
• Strong Terraform/IaC background
• Ability to design and optimise CI/CD pipelines from scratch
• Confident advising on tooling, architecture and long-term DevOps strategy
• Someone who thrives in small, scaling environments with high ownership
• A mentor and influencer who is also comfortable deep in the technical detail
