We’re hiring a Senior AI Engineer to help build production-grade AI capabilities for software products in the biopharma space. This is a hands-on engineering role where you’ll design, implement, and maintain AI-powered features using large language models, agent orchestration frameworks, and RAG architectures.

You’ll be writing code daily - building advanced agentic workflows, ensuring their reliability at scale, and collaborating within an agile development team. You’ll own the full AI system lifecycle, from initial design and implementation through validation, deployment, and ongoing improvement.

Core Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement RAG-based AI agent flows to handle complex, multi-step reasoning tasks
  • Develop context-engineering strategies to improve agent performance
  • Integrate AI services with existing platform components, databases, and cloud environments through robust APIs
  • Validate and monitor agentic systems using testing frameworks, evaluation metrics, and quality benchmarks
  • Document system architectures, design decisions, and implementation patterns
  • Participate in code reviews and help define engineering standards for AI development
  • Stay current with advancements in LLMs, agent frameworks, and AI engineering best practices

Tech Stack

  • LLMs: OpenAI, Anthropic Claude
  • Python: API frameworks (FastAPI, Django), LangGraph or similar
  • Semantic Search: Elasticsearch, Pinecone, etc.
  • Cloud: AWS and/or Azure
  • Databases: PostgreSQL (OLTP), ClickHouse (OLAP)

Requirements

  • Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field
  • 5+ years in software or AI engineering, including at least 1 year building LLM-based agents
  • Demonstrated experience developing production AI agents (LangGraph or similar preferred)
  • Strong coding skills with a practical, hands-on approach to building real-world systems
  • Ability to translate complex domain requirements into effective technical solutions

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with ML fundamentals, model training/evaluation, and MLOps
  • Background in biotech, biopharma, or life sciences, especially experience with structure-activity relationship (SAR) data

What do we offer?

  • A challenging job environment with advancement opportunities
  • Possibility to work from home in an international (global) setting – hybrid remote setting with possibility to connect with colleagues in Ghent on-site
  • A dynamic company with an open culture, easy communication and ambitious vision
  • A rich & global team with a mix of backgrounds, experiences and expertise
  • Independence and flexibility
  • An attractive salary package with competitive extra-legal benefits
