Full Stack Engineer – React/PHP

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Full Stack Engineer with deep expertise across React, PHP, and modern web technologies. This role plays a key part in driving product and platform development through hands-on engineering, technical leadership, and architectural guidance.

As a senior individual contributor, you will collaborate closely with the Engineering Manager and Technical Lead, setting engineering standards, influencing architectural decisions, and delivering high-quality solutions. Your technical excellence, problem-solving ability, and collaborative approach will help elevate the performance of the entire engineering squad.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver end-to-end technical solutions across the product and platform.
• Plan, design, and execute high-quality development initiatives as a hands-on senior engineer.
• Set engineering standards and provide leadership on architecture, development practices, documentation, scalability, and application performance.
• Build modern, scalable, and secure web applications and reusable component libraries.
• Develop and maintain REST or GraphQL APIs and standalone applications.
• Drive performance optimisation through caching strategies, database query tuning, profiling, and identifying/solving bottlenecks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure technical feasibility, quality, and performance outcomes.
• Contribute to CI/CD, automation, DevOps best practices, and overall platform reliability.
• Support and guide other engineers through code reviews, knowledge sharing, and technical mentorship.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Strong hands-on Full Stack development experience with PHP, WordPress, and Laravel.
• Proven experience building modern, scalable front-end applications using React and TypeScript.
• Experience developing APIs (REST or GraphQL) and standalone applications using frameworks such as Laravel and Horizon.
• Hands-on experience working with both SQL and NoSQL databases; proficient using ORMs such as Eloquent.
• Exposure to front-end frameworks such as Gutenberg (advantageous).
• Familiarity with performance profiling tools such as Blackfire (highly regarded).
• Experience developing or maintaining applications with at least one cloud provider (e.g., AWS or GCP).
• Practical understanding of cloud infrastructure, microservices, distributed systems, and ETL processes.
• Strong grasp of DevOps principles including Automation, CI/CD, and Observability.
• Experience building high-traffic, secure, scalable, and cost-efficient systems, ideally aligned with frameworks such as the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
• Demonstrated ability to optimise systems for performance and scalability, including:
• Implementing caching strategies
• Optimising database queries
• Analysing and resolving performance bottlenecks
