Graduate / Assistant Quantity Surveyor – Data Centres

The Opportunity
This role offers the chance to support large-scale, high-value data centre projects from early cost planning through to final account. You will work closely with senior commercial staff, learning industry best practice and developing your professional skill set in a sector known for rapid growth and innovation.
Role Responsibilities
Working alongside Senior Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Managers, you will assist in all aspects of commercial management, including:
Cost & Commercial Management
- Assisting with cost plans, estimates, and bills of quantities
- Supporting tendering and procurement activities
- Preparing tender analyses and procurement reports
Contract Administration
- Assisting with contract documentation and change control processes
- Helping manage variations and commercial records
Reporting & Documentation
- Preparing internal and external commercial reports
- Contributing to monthly project updates
Valuations & Payments
- Assisting with valuation of work in progress
- Reviewing contractor payment applications
- Supporting the preparation of payment certificates
Risk & Client Interface
- Assisting with identifying commercial risks and opportunities
- Maintaining professional communication with project stakeholders
Required Skills & Qualifications
Essential
- A degree (or working towards a degree) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related construction discipline
- Strong desire to develop a career in QS/commercial management, particularly within data centres or high-tech construction
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to travel to project sites when required (UK and potentially international)
Desirable
- Previous work experience or an internship in construction consultancy or contracting
- Understanding of standard forms of contract (JCT, NEC, or similar)
- Familiarity with data centre construction processes or key building systems
