Network Architect

An opportunity for an experienced Network Architect to join an established financial institution in Amsterdam.

The Network Architect is responsible for designing and integrating VMware Cloud Foundation based hosting platforms, with a strong focus on networking, storage, compute, and NSX-T to Cisco ACI integration. The architect ensures high-quality designs, drives implementation, and transfers knowledge to build a T-shaped Agile engineering team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement VCF-based hosting platforms across compute, storage, and network domains.
• Architect and integrate network components using NSX-T, Cisco ACI, and VMware network constructs (FW, LB, routing, segmentation).
• Develop and document platform and network designs
• Lead integration of new VMware technologies, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and security requirements.
• Design DR capabilities across data centres.
• Provide technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and coaching to Agile teams to strengthen T-shaped skills.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, engineers, security teams, and product owners to ensure successful delivery.

Requirements:

• Senior-level experience as an IT Architect in large enterprise environments.
• Deep hands-on expertise with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) design and integration.
• Strong knowledge of NSX-T, Cisco ACI, and VMware network constructs (FW, LB, routing, segmentation).
• Experience with compute, network, and storage integration in virtualised platforms.
• Proven experience designing or supporting DR architectures across data centres.
• Strong documentation skills and ability to produce architecture artifacts to enterprise standards.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Ability to coach and transfer knowledge to Agile engineering teams.
• Relevant IT degree and preferred certifications (VCP/VCAP/VCIX, NSX-T, Cisco).
