About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead DevOps Engineer specializing in AWS to join our security services team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing a complex multi-account AWS environment that underpins the RiskRecon product. Your expertise will be pivotal in designing secure, scalable, and resilient infrastructure solutions that support rapid product development and deployment. You will collaborate closely with development teams, product managers, and security stakeholders to ensure best practices in automation, monitoring, and security hardening are implemented across all environments. This hybrid position is based in Toronto, Canada, requiring three days per week onsite presence, offering an exciting opportunity to lead DevOps initiatives at a global financial technology leader.
Qualifications
- Enterprise-level IT experience with a proven track record in large-scale infrastructure design, deployment, and security.
- Extensive hands-on experience with AWS across multi-account environments.
- Deep knowledge of AWS networking, compute, and security services including VPCs, Subnets, NAT, Security Groups, Load Balancers, WAF/Shield, CloudFront, Route 53, EC2, ECS, EKS, IAM, and Config.
- Proficiency in Linux administration, shell scripting, system tuning, and security hardening.
- Experience with automation and infrastructure as code using Terraform, AWS CLI, Systems Manager, and Git.
- Strong monitoring and observability skills utilizing CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and third-party tools.
- Experience managing databases and security services such as RDS, KMS, HSM, and Workspaces.
- Ability to develop and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and compliance reports.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a history of working effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Design, implement, and manage AWS networking components including VPCs, Subnets, NAT gateways, NACLs, Security Groups, VPC Endpoints, and Transit Gateways.
- Optimize application and network load balancing through Application Load Balancers, Network Load Balancers, Target Groups, and Listener Routing.
- Configure and monitor WAF rules, Shield services, DDoS protection mechanisms, and CloudFront distributions to safeguard infrastructure.
- Administer DNS services using Route 53 to ensure reliable domain management and routing.
- Deploy, configure, and maintain AWS EC2 instances, including Linux instances, auto-scaling groups, AMIs, volumes, and snapshots.
- Manage containerized workloads via AWS ECS and oversee AWS EKS clusters, resources, and workloads.
- Implement and monitor security and logging solutions using CloudTrail and CloudWatch for infrastructure and security auditing.
- Secure AWS environments by managing IAM roles, policies, resource policies, and service control policies (SCPs).
- Automate Linux system administration tasks through shell scripting, system tuning, and monitoring tools.
- Leverage AWS CLI and Systems Manager to automate routine tasks and streamline operational workflows.
- Ensure compliance with AWS Config standards through auditing, reporting, and governance practices.
- Utilize infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, alongside Git, RDS, KMS, HSM, and Workspaces to support secure and scalable infrastructure deployment.
- Collaborate with development and security teams to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve infrastructure issues promptly.
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including runbooks, deployment procedures, and compliance reports.
