In this role, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of Roofr’s backend architecture, ensuring our systems are scalable, efficient, and robust. As a hands-on contributor, you will blend strategic oversight with direct involvement in project execution, influencing the engineering culture by promoting innovation and high standards. Your expertise will guide the development of web applications and frameworks, while mentoring senior engineers and collaborating across disciplines to drive project success. Qualifications
- 8+ years of software development experience
- Proficiency in PHP and the Laravel framework
- Experience leading and adopting agile methodologies
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to deconstruct complex challenges
- Proactive in implementing technological initiatives and fostering a progressive engineering culture
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills
- Ownership mentality with a focus on high-quality, reliable work
- Deep understanding of the challenges faced by early-stage companies
- Advanced skills in DevOps and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are a plus
- Experience with scalable web application development and testing frameworks
- Lead the evolution of backend architecture to improve scalability and system efficiency
- Contribute directly to project development while providing strategic technical oversight
- Influence and shape the engineering culture by promoting best practices and innovation
- Mentor senior engineers and collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to refine technical requirements
- Design and develop robust, scalable web applications and reusable frameworks
- Create and maintain comprehensive unit, functional, and acceptance tests to ensure software quality
- Lead troubleshooting efforts and develop strategies for production support and incident resolution
- Implement initiatives to enhance engineering technologies and workflows
- Drive continuous improvement in development processes and technical standards
- Competitive salary range of $170,000.00 - $190,000.00 CAD
