For an European institution in Brussels, Belgium, we are looking for a hybrid Senior UX/UI Designer.
Candidates need to be based in Belgium or willing to relocate to Brussels, when coming from abroad. Candidates need to be willing to work 1-2 days on-site.
Candidates need to be fluent in English. A work permit is not provided. This position is open for contractors.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Usability testing and User eXperience (UX) analysis;
- Giving recommendations on user interface at any step of the design of a digital solution (from conceptualization to researching, wireframes sketching, prototyping, user testing and final implementation);
- Visual prototyping of user interface solutions such as designing (low- and high-fidelity) wireframes, mock-ups and story boards which lead to an intuitive and ergonomic user experience for different web products and platforms;
- Creation and maintenance of style guides, brand book and visual component libraries, including sketched concepts and page templates;
- Design considerations on font, visuals, text, the definition of information architecture, interaction workflows and navigation;
- Creation of graphic elements including illustrations, visuals, infographics, data visualisations, etc;
- Definition of user-centered evaluations, identifying key usability problems and providing recommendations on how to solve them (including the participation in usability studies with users);
- Front-end development of responsive UI solutions following good coding practices, including creation/correction of CSS and transforming mock-ups into semantic HTML and development of innovative solutions for different platforms;
- Documentation of code, ensuring easy maintenance & evolution;
- Optimisation of application for maximum performance and scalability;
- Perform user research and interviews, analyse the insights and translate the findings into informed design decisions;
Profile:
- Bachelor or Master degree;
- +9 years of IT experience;
- Knowledge of web technologies, frameworks, and standards such as HTML, XHTML, CSS and W3C, accessibility, SEO;
- Knowledge of eUI framework is a plus;
- Knowledge of user interface design applications such as Figma;
- Knowledge of wireframing and interactive prototyping design tools such as Balsamiq, InVision, UxPin, Framer.js or similar;
- Knowledge of design and graphical tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or similar;
- Knowledge in customization of collaborative tools such as Atlassian’s Confluence or similar;
- Knowledge of (web/visual) design, graphical and prototyping tools and software;
- Good knowledge of web design and mobile applications;
- Ability to translate interview insights into informed design decision design, data protection and security principles;
- Knowledge of user-centred design principles and methodologies, including development of usability test plans for all stages of a project life-cycle based on defined target audiences, personas and user stories;
- Knowledge of user testing through all stages of a project, including different techniques (e.g. eye tracking, dynamic/static verification) and methods of testing (e.g. remote usability testing, A/B testing, hallway testing, post release testing);
- Fluent in English;
