ABOUT THE ROLE:

As a Test Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing automation solutions across both modern and legacy systems covering UI, API, and integration layers. This role includes high ownership, technical depth, and the opportunity to influence test strategy, tooling, and quality processes from the ground up.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

  • Build, design, and maintain automated testing frameworks (primarily Playwright with TypeScript).
  • Implement automated test suites for UI, API, and integration layers.
  • Establish automation coverage for critical business flows and high-risk areas.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI).
  • Perform exploratory and regression testing, especially in complex legacy environments.
  • Validate integrations between frontend layers and multiple backend systems.
  • Investigate complex defects, perform root cause analysis, and document findings.
  • Support performance or security testing (e.g., Gatling, JMeter) where relevant.
  • Work across two parallel digital transformation streams: A new modern web platform built on React + Drupal. Legacy self-service systems built on Symfony, CakePHP, CodeIgniter, Laravel, and Java frameworks.
  • Participate in requirement clarifications together with analysts and developers.
  • Contribute to test strategy definition, risk analysis, and prioritization.
  • Ensure accessibility compliance testing according to WCAG standards.


WHAT WE EXPECT:

  • 5+ years of experience in test automation for web applications.
  • Strong programming skills in JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, Python.
  • Proven experience with automation tools such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, Karate, or Postman.
  • Solid understanding of: Web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript), Backend and frontend interaction, REST API testing and validation.
  • Hands-on experience with Git and version-control workflows.
  • Experience working with CI/CD environments (Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps).
  • Experience with accessibility testing or WCAG compliance implementation (preferred).


SOFT SKILLS:

  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving approach.
  • Ability to work independently with high ownership.
  • Strong communication skills and experience collaborating in Agile teams.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Prior experience building automation frameworks from scratch.
  • Automation for both UI and API layers in complex multi-country systems.
  • REST/SOAP API testing with Postman, Karate, or CA frameworks.
  • Experience with performance testing tools such as Gatling or JMeter.
  • Understanding of responsive design testing and cross-browser validation.
  • Experience with large platforms involving multiple integrations and regulatory differences.

  • IDE: IntelliJ
