System Engineer

Our client is a leading EPC engineering company specialising in the design and development of large-scale offshore substations and complex energy-infrastructure projects. Their multidisciplinary engineering teams work on highly technical and impactful projects within the global energy transition. This department manages the integration and performance of core IT infrastructure, engineering applications and data environments. The role involves close collaboration with engineering teams, project managers and IT specialists to support offshore substation projects and other complex engineering assignments.

In this role you will:

• As a Systems Engineer, you ensure the reliability, performance and integration of the IT and engineering systems that support large offshore substation and energy-transition projects.
• You will manage and maintain the infrastructure, servers, storage, networks, cloud and identity systems, while collaborating with engineers, designers and project teams to align system configurations with project needs.
• Your role includes managing integrations between CAD/BIM/PLM tools, document and project management systems, databases and cloud services, as well as supporting requirement-management processes to maintain a single source of truth.
• You will troubleshoot complex issues, develop automation and operational scripts, and implement monitoring, backup, disaster-recovery and security measures.
• Additionally, you contribute to continuous improvement by optimising system architectures and enhancing workflows across the engineering environment.

This is you:

• Expertise in creating and implementing Verification and Validation (V&V) plans
• Experience with running simulations to test system viability and performance under various conditions (e.g., environmental stress)
• Familiarity with requirements management, SE methodology, and tools like Relatics
• Scripting and automation experience (PowerShell, Bash or Python)
• Solid understanding of networking (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VPN) and IT security principles
• Experience in EPC projects
• Understanding of OT/ICS environments, SCADA or industrial networks
• Cybersecurity experience in technical or industrial settings
