Head of Engineering role - Stockholm!
I'm working with a VC-backed startup in Stockholm who are looking to bring in their next head of engineering, as they look to grow and scale and capitalize on huge momentum and demand!
Their product is a unique, white-label B2B platform which enables operators to build, launch, scale and monetise their own iGaming or casino platform - WITHOUT HAVING TO CODE!
Think Shopify for the casino sector, they enables the likes of influencers, streamers and other operators to launch their own games, with a highly customizable pre-built platform and infrastructure, handling all bureaucracy and licensing involved with the industry.
As they look to grow, they are looking for a co-pilot for the CTO, to own operational responsibility for engineering and drive the next phase of their growth!
Head of Engineering
The Head of Engineering owns the technical direction, architecture, and delivery of the entire platform. This role leads the engineering organisation, drives execution, and ensures the platform scales to the demands of operators, liquidity partners, and regulators.
This person will report directly to the CTO to begin with, and will ultimately oversee and manage the engineering department (performance management, salary reviews, coaching), be responsible for growing & scaling the team, optimising engineering processes, and also be a hands-on technical lead - ultimately playing a pivotal role in a high-growth and potential company from early stage!
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Define and own the long-term technical vision, architecture, and engineering roadmap.
- Ensure the platform is scalable, resilient, secure, and compliant.
- Lead decisions on infrastructure, tooling, performance, and security.
Team Leadership & Execution
- Lead and mentor the engineering team across frontend, backend, DevOps and QA.
- Currently 7 people in tech team, with 3 product/focus areas: core platform, white label product, back office system where operators can see their performances and make changes
- Own recruitment and team growth.
- Establish engineering best practices and drive fast, reliable delivery.
- Coordinate work across internal teams and external partners.
Operational Excellence
- Own uptime, performance, monitoring, and incident management.
- Ensure safe deployments, migrations, and updates in a 24/7 environment.
- Enforce strong security and data protection standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with founders on product and strategic decisions.
- Collaborate on blockchain integration, risk systems, and payments infrastructure.
- Align engineering output with operator needs, compliance, and commercial priorities.
Required Experience
- 6+ years in software engineering and 2–3 years in a lead or head-of-engineering role.
- Strong expertise in TypeScript, NodeJs, PostgreSQL, and modern web technologies.
- Experience with large-scale, real-time or high-traffic systems.
- Deep AWS knowledge.
- Blockchain experience is a plus.
- Proven ability to lead teams, define roadmaps, and deliver complex products.
