We are currently seeking a Junior Cybersecurity Architect to support the GAIA Programme, a European Commission initiative developing generative AI tools and platforms (GPT@EC, AI@EC Platform). This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in cybersecurity architecture within an innovative AI environment.
Job Specifications
- Location: Brussels
- Work schedule: On-site (with potential for partial remote work)
- Contract type: Employment or Freelance

- Security: Eligibility for EU-PSC (Personal Security Clearance) required
Key responsibilities include:
- Support the GAIA Programme team in the context of cybersecurity architecture and design
- Assisting in the documentation of cybersecurity policies, procedures, and artefacts
- Supporting risk assessments and compliance activities under senior guidance
- Helping monitor security aspects of vendor and contractor implementations
- Conducting research on emerging threats and security best practices in generative AI
- Establish security control mechanisms and implement actions to maintain security consistency across the GAIA application landscape;
- Contribute with cybersecurity advice to Commission projects that make use of the GAIA horizontal solutions
- Participating in cybersecurity meetings and workshops, and providing updates to senior staff
- Preparing technical notes and summaries for internal teams
Profile
- Education: At least a 2-years post-secondary education Degree, preferably in a relevant area
- A first conclusive hands-on IT security experience, preferably related to architecture or AI
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles, risk management, and threat modeling
- Knowledge of emerging AI technologies and related cybersecurity challenges
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to produce clear, structured technical documentation
- Good communication skills in English (C1 level)
- Team player, adaptable, and eager to learn in a fast-paced, multicultural environment

- Familiarity with cybersecurity standards and practices in European institutions
