About the Role
A Senior Back End Engineer position is available with a purpose driven product organisation that builds large scale technology used across major community focused environments. This role has been created to strengthen the back end capability within a growing engineering team and support the delivery of reliable, high quality systems.
You will work closely with engineering leadership to design, build and maintain cloud based microservices that need to perform under real world pressure. As the team continues to expand, this position plays an important part in contributing to technical quality, collaborating with cross functional teams and helping drive best practice across the platform.
This is a hands on position, with most of your time spent designing, coding, reviewing and improving back end services using Node.js, TypeScript, MongoDB and modern AWS tooling. You will be contributing to platform architecture, service performance and the delivery of features that have meaningful impact for a wide and diverse user base.
The role is Perth based, with a minimum of three days per week in the office.
You Should Have
• At least 5 years of commercial software engineering experience
• Strong hands on experience with Node.js and TypeScript
• Proven capability working with MongoDB or similar NoSQL databases
• Solid understanding of AWS services and cloud based system design
• Experience building clean, maintainable and high performance microservices
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• A thoughtful, quality focused engineering mindset
• Full Australian work rights
Nice to Have
• Experience with DynamoDB or additional NoSQL data stores
• Exposure to Vue, React or modern TypeScript based front end frameworks
• Experience with Flutter or mobile focused development
• Background working in regulated, high standards or compliance oriented environments
• Experience mentoring other engineers or leading technical initiatives
• Familiarity with IaC or DevOps workflows
• Capability across multiple programming languages
