Java Full Stack Developer – Backend Focus (Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, React/Angular) - Vienna 1 to 2 days per month - Immediate Start

We are seeking an experienced Java Full Stack Developer with strong backend expertise to join an agile development team working on high-impact platforms within the telecommunications sector. This role is ideal for developers who excel in Java/Spring Boot microservices, API design, and modern frontend frameworks such as React or Angular.

With minimal on-site requirements (just 1–2 days per month in Vienna, Austria), this position offers excellent flexibility while still contributing to a collaborative engineering culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java (Java 21 preferred), Spring, and Spring Boot
• Build and integrate REST APIs for internal and external systems
• Perform unit testing with JUnit to ensure high-quality code
• Manage dependencies and builds using Maven
• Work with PostgreSQL, including JSONB where applicable
• Design scalable, secure microservice architectures
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, developers, QA, and DevOps teams in an agile (Scrum/Kanban) environment
• Improve development tooling, processes, and CI/CD workflows
• Support performance, stability, and security best practices
• Contribute to frontend development with JavaScript/TypeScript, React, or Angular
• Work with relevant technologies from the Apache ecosystem

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven experience in backend development with Java (Java 21 ideal)
• Expertise in Spring Framework and Spring Boot
• Strong experience with REST API development
• Proficiency in JUnit for automated testing
• Hands-on experience with Maven
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL (JSONB is a plus)
• Experience designing and implementing microservices
• Frontend development experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and React or Angular
• Familiarity with Apache technologies for integration and tooling
• Experience working in Scrum/Kanban teams
• Excellent command of English

Nice to Have

• Experience with Kubernetes & Helm
• SOAP service integration
• Knowledge of Graylog (logging/monitoring)
• Experience in the telecommunications industry
• Understanding of Kafka or other messaging technologies
