About Us
Art Processors are leading experience designers, partnering with cultural and tourism organisations to attract and engage large audiences. We combine the most inventive creative and technical skills to design compelling exhibitions, attractions, places and products.
A little about the role…
We are seeking an Interaction Designer to help shape a set of digital experiences for a large, information-rich environment. The work focuses on how people discover, search, browse, and navigate a substantial collection through a mobile guide and related interfaces. This is bespoke, experience-led design, blending clear interaction logic with lightweight exploration and rapid prototyping.
This position will be an initial three month contract, working three days per week, ideally commencing in mid to late January 2026. We support work being performed remotely, but note that there will be a requirement to work from our brand new Abbotsford office occasionally (or more regularly if you wish!)
What you will do…
Interaction and Interface Design
• Design clean, intuitive UI flows that support search, browsing, navigation, and camera-based interactions.
• Evolve an existing mobile guide so it can support more complex visitor tasks.
• Move confidently from sketches to wireframes to higher-fidelity prototypes.
Exploration and Concept Development
• Generate multiple conceptual entry points: device-first, object-first, theme-first, or context-driven.
• Consider spatial aspects where relevant, such as how people move or orient themselves, without needing deep architectural expertise.
• Explore ideas for maps, guidance, recommendations, and discovery surfaces.
Prototyping and Iteration
• Produce rapid design studies, motion explorations, and experiential mockups.
• Contribute to internal demos and help shape the direction through on-site or informal testing.
Collaboration
• Work closely with engineers, creative technologists, and internal stakeholders.
• Provide clear, communicative design artefacts that guide implementation.
• Participate in lightweight user testing when needed.
What you will bring:
Essential
• Strong UI and interaction design capability with a folio that demonstrates clarity, intent, and good craft.
• Experience designing for mobile and web across a range of interaction patterns.
• Ability to think beyond screens when needed, incorporating light spatial reasoning or environmental context.
• Proficiency in Figma and related design tools.
• Comfortable progressing design with incomplete information and shaping direction through exploration.
Desirable
• Experience with AR, wayfinding, maps, installations, or other non-standard interaction contexts.
• Experience collaborating with engineering teams.
• Exposure to cultural, experiential, or built-environment projects is a bonus but not required.
• Ability to run simple user tests or gather practical behavioural insights.
Working style
• Practical, curious, and comfortable with ambiguity.
• Able to self-manage and deliver concise, actionable design outputs.
• Enjoys working in mixed-discipline teams and shaping ideas through iteration.
