Why This Role Is Right for You
As a Junior Backend Developer, you’ll join a collaborative and forward-thinking team based in Köln, Eschborn, München and Berlin. Together, we work on design, development, and maintenance of scalable backend services. As a Junior Backend Developer, you will work closely with senior developers to build and maintain backend components, improve performance and reliability, and contribute to modern, cloud-native application development.
About Your Future Role
In this position, you will:
- Develop and maintain backend applications using Java and Python
- Design and manage relational databases, primarily using PostgreSQL
- Build and integrate RESTful APIs and support microservices-based architectures
- Participate in Scrum meetings, code reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge sharing
- Write unit and integration tests to ensure high software quality
- Assist in deploying and monitoring applications on AWS (e.g., EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda)
- Assist in debugging, performance tuning, and incident resolution

Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Solid programming skills in Java and/or Python
- Basic experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases
- Familiarity with AWS services (e.g., RDS, Lambda, CloudWatch)
- Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken
- Familiarity with REST APIs, HTTP, and web services
- Understanding of microservices architecture and containerized deployment
- Version control with GitHub and basic knowledge of CI/CD practices
- Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn new technologies
