Why This Role Is Right for You

As a Junior Backend Developer, you’ll join a collaborative and forward-thinking team based in Köln, Eschborn, München and Berlin. Together, we work on design, development, and maintenance of scalable backend services. As a Junior Backend Developer, you will work closely with senior developers to build and maintain backend components, improve performance and reliability, and contribute to modern, cloud-native application development.

About Your Future Role

In this position, you will:

• Develop and maintain backend applications using Java and Python
• Design and manage relational databases, primarily using PostgreSQL
• Build and integrate RESTful APIs and support microservices-based architectures
• Participate in Scrum meetings, code reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge sharing
• Write unit and integration tests to ensure high software quality
• Assist in deploying and monitoring applications on AWS (e.g., EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda)
• Assist in debugging, performance tuning, and incident resolution

Essential Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Solid programming skills in Java and/or Python
• Basic experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases
• Familiarity with AWS services (e.g., RDS, Lambda, CloudWatch)
• Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken
  
  

Bonus Skills:

• Familiarity with REST APIs, HTTP, and web services
• Understanding of microservices architecture and containerized deployment
• Version control with GitHub and basic knowledge of CI/CD practices
• Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn new technologies
