The Data Tooling team provides essential internal tools to help everyone at the BBC make informed data decisions. One of our responsibilities is the support and maintenance of our self-hosted instance of Tableau, used widely across the organization for the visualization of audience behaviour. We are seeking a Service Support engineer to balance technical maintenance and enhancements with operational user-facing support.

Key responsibilities:


  • Administer and maintain the Tableau Server in production, ensuring reliability, security and performance
  • Work with other support engineers to manage live incidents, diagnose issues and restore service
  • Support Tableau Server optimization and deployment
  • Work directly with users and stakeholders, handling ad-hoc requests to optimize workbooks and dashboards by being their first line of support
  • Manage the AWS Windows Server environments and ensure seamless Tableau integration with connected AWS services
  • Monitor server & application health, automate routine admin tasks, and troubleshoot system issues
  • Work with the team to identify, prioritize & deliver initiatives aimed at optimizing the Tableau service.

    Required Qualifications:


  • Experience working with and developing on AWS services such as EC2, IAM roles, VPC and elastic load balancers
  • Confident using AWS CLI and CDK
  • Experience with the management of Windows and Linux operating systems (Powershell, bash, zsh)
  • Experience with using Tableau or a desire to upskill
  • Strong collaborator – experience working in multidisciplinary teams to deliver outcomes
  • Experience managing stakeholders

  • Salary €3300 - 5300 EUR gross. Salary directly related to experience, knowledge level and individual's performance.
