About The Role

The Datacenter Operations Engineer is the first line of defense for our physical infrastructure. You will be responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all hardware, power, cooling, and network infrastructure within our data center facilities. This role requires flexibility to work in shifts and respond to critical incidents 24/7.

We are looking for a dedicated and technically skilled Datacenter Operations Engineer to ensure the continuous availability and performance of our critical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshooting & Incident Response: Respond quickly to facility and equipment alarms, diagnose hardware failures (servers, storage, network gear), and perform Level 1/2 troubleshooting and remediation.
• Hardware Management: Rack, cable, configure, and decommission server and networking hardware according to established standards and procedures.
• Maintenance & Repair: Conduct preventative maintenance on infrastructure components (e.g., HVAC units, UPS systems, generators) in coordination with specialized vendors and internal teams.
• Capacity Management Support: Execute moves, adds, and changes (MAC) to support capacity planning requirements, ensuring accurate inventory records (asset tracking).
• Process Improvement: Participate in documenting operational procedures, runbooks, and contributing to post-mortem analysis of significant incidents.
• Safety & Compliance: Ensure all operations adhere strictly to safety protocols, security policies, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT,Electrical - Electronical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience in a technical field.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in a production data center or mission-critical environment.
• Strong practical knowledge of server hardware components, network cabling standards (fiber and copper), and connectivity diagnostics.
• Familiarity with critical facility infrastructure, including basic understanding of electrical distribution and cooling systems (e.g., interpreting schematics is a plus).
• Proficiency in using DCIM (Data Center Infrastructure Management) or similar asset management tools.
• Ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs) and work in a physically demanding role (racking, cabling).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a shift team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, or manufacturer-specific certifications).
• Experience with scripting languages
• Familiarity with network topologies and planning within a large-scale data center environment.
• Experience with sustainability initiatives, including PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) reduction planning
