Robert Half is supporting a FinTech organisation in sourcing an Interim Head of Cyber Security Lead to provide hands-on, business-as-usual cover while a permanent hire is progressed. This role is focused on maintaining stability, managing day-to-day cyber operations, and ensuring regulatory and security obligations continue to be met during the transition period. This is a practical, delivery-focused role rather than a transformation or strategy reset.
Assignment Details
- Initial duration: 3 months (with potential to extend or convert to permanent)
- Location: Remote
- Rate: £600 per day PAYE, plus 12.07% holiday accrual (PAYE with employer’s NI and tax deducted at source – no umbrella company fees)
- Start: ASAP
Key Skills and Experience
- Previous experience working in UK FCA-regulated environments
- Background in FinTech, payments, or digital-native financial services
- Hands-on experience across cyber security operations and technology risk
- Comfortable covering BAU responsibilities across incident management, vulnerability management, third-party risk and cloud security
- Working knowledge of FCA and PRA expectations, including operational resilience and DORA
- Experience maintaining security controls, policies and reporting rather than designing them from scratch
- Able to work pragmatically with technology, risk and operations teams to keep services running smoothly
- Comfortable operating in an interim capacity with clear handover to a permanent hire
Role Overview: You will step in to provide day-to-day ownership of the cyber security function, ensuring continuity while a permanent appointment is made. The focus is on stability, oversight, and execution, rather than large-scale change or strategic redesign. You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders to manage incidents, track risks, maintain regulatory alignment, and ensure cyber controls remain effective. This role suits someone who enjoys being close to delivery and is happy operating in a steady-state environment with a clear end goal of handing over to a permanent successor.
