Chief Technology Officer (CTO)
Overview
We are delighted to have been engaged as a search partner to appoint a Chief Technology Officer to join our client, a long-established, global solutions company. They have embarked on an ambitious transformation journey that is required to enable their sustainable growth strategy to be delivered. Transforming their technology function and creating a commercially focused strategy will be fundamental to their success.
This is an amazing opportunity, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Technology Officer will be accountable for the overall technology strategy, operating model, and delivery across the organisation.
Role and Responsibilities
- Partnering with the executive leadership team to design and deliver a technology strategy that underpins the wider business transformation and supports sustainable, profitable growth.
- Developing and maintaining a clear, prioritised technology roadmap aligned to business objectives and commercial outcomes.
- Ensuring systems architecture supports high-volume transactions, real-time data processing, and secure integration with third-party platforms, including trading, ERP, logistics, and treasury systems.
- Overseeing infrastructure, DevOps, and IT operations to ensure high availability, performance, security, and resilience across global operations.
- Driving automation and process improvement across the trade lifecycle, inventory management, and logistics coordination.
- Building, leading, and developing high-performing technology and engineering teams, fostering a delivery-focused and collaborative culture.
- Implementing effective governance, risk management, cybersecurity, disaster recovery, and business continuity arrangements.
- Managing strategic relationships with technology vendors and partners, and owning the technology budget to ensure cost-effective scaling and value delivery.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Proven experience as a Chief Technology Officer, VP of Engineering, or equivalent senior leadership role within a complex regulated environment.
- Demonstrable success leading large-scale technology and business transformation programmes.
- Strong experience improving operational efficiency, system resilience, and delivery speed in high-availability environments.
- Deep understanding of systems integration, data platforms, and enterprise architecture.
- Experience working within regulatory and compliance frameworks, including data protection and information security.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, and change management capabilities, with the confidence to constructively challenge senior stakeholders.
- A pragmatic, delivery-oriented approach, balancing strategic vision with hands-on execution.
