Forsyth Barnes is proud to be partnering with an innovative media company to recruit a Senior Backend Engineer. This exciting role is available remotely or in a hybrid capacity within the UK or Germany, offering the chance to work at the forefront of media technology and data innovation.

The Role
As a Senior Backend Engineer, you’ll play a key role in designing and building systems that underpin critical business processes. From creating high-quality, scalable architectures to collaborating with cross-functional teams, you’ll contribute to the ongoing evolution of cutting-edge media solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the full development lifecycle, from design to deployment and operations.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality, fully operational applications.
- Collaborate closely with developers, business partners, and product owners.
- Mentor and support colleagues to drive team success.
Technical Stack:
- Backend: Scala (Typelevel, Cats Effect, FS2)
- Communication: Kafka (Confluent Cloud) with Protobuf
- Infrastructure: AWS (ECS, S3, DynamoDB, Aurora) automated with Pulumi (Typescript)
- DevOps: GitHub Actions for CI/CD, DataDog for monitoring
About You
You’re a skilled backend engineer with a passion for developing robust and innovative software solutions. Your expertise in scalable architectures and experience working with modern tools and practices will make you an excellent fit for this dynamic team.
Desired Skills:
- JVM languages (Scala, Java)
- Event-driven architectures and systems like Apache Kafka
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, etc.)
- Familiarity with AWS cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices
- Proficiency in Test-Driven Development
- A genuine interest in media and technology innovation
