SUMMARY OF ROLE:
Lead the bank's AI, Machine Learning, and data transformation initiatives to drive digital innovation, enhance customer experience, and monetize data assets. This role focuses on strategic oversight of data transformation, enabling the bank to harness the value of data for operational efficiency, customer engagement, and revenue generation, while adhering to governance frameworks and ethical standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
AI/ML Strategy and Implementation:
• Support in developing and implementing a 3-year AI/ML strategy aligned with the bank's innovation and digital transformation goals.
• Identify and oversee AI/ML opportunities in customer-facing solutions, such as financial advisors, product matching, gamification, and conversational AI.
• Ensure AI solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with the bank's innovation and ethical standards.

AI solution delivery and lifecycle ownership
• Oversee end-to-end AI/ML solution lifecycle: discovery, data readiness, model development/selection, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure AI solutions are scalable, resilient, secure, and aligned with ethical and responsible AI principles.
• Define and enforce model governance practices (validation, performance thresholds, drift monitoring, versioning, retraining triggers, documentation).

Data Transformation Oversight:
• Provide operational and strategic support to the direction for the bank’s data transformation program, ensuring alignment with business goals.
• Oversee the transition to a data-driven culture, facilitating the integration of data into decision-making processes across all departments.
• Ensure robust data governance frameworks are in place, adhering to compliance, privacy, and security standards, particularly within the Omani regulatory context.
• Collaborate with the PMO, Transformation Office, and business units to ensure seamless execution of data-related initiatives.

Data Monetization:
• Identify and capitalize on opportunities to monetize the bank’s data assets through innovative solutions.
• Work with cross-functional teams to design and implement data products that generate fee income and enhance customer value.
• Explore partnerships and collaborations to leverage data for new revenue streams, ensuring the bank remains competitive in the market.

Governance and Compliance:
• Lead the establishment of governance frameworks for AI and data programs, ensuring ethical and responsible use of technologies.
• Conduct periodic reviews of AI and data initiatives, addressing risks, privacy concerns, and compliance with local and international regulations.
• Balance innovation and stringent data privacy requirements, offering strategic solutions to potential conflicts.

R&D and Innovation:
• Stay informed about the latest trends in AI, ML, and data transformation, applying insights to the bank’s strategy.
• Evaluate emerging technologies to assess their potential impact on the bank's data and AI landscape.
• Drive experimentation and pilots to test innovative AI and data monetization use cases.

Team Leadership and Development:
• Mentor and upskill team members to foster expertise in AI, ML, and data transformation.
• Build a pipeline of talent to support the bank’s long-term innovation and data goals.
• Promote a data-driven and innovation-focused culture within the organization



Requirements

• Omani nationals only
• Bachelor’s degree in AI, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, with 5–8 years of experience in AI/ML and data roles, including 2+ years in a lead role.
• Proven delivery of production AI solutions, strong hands-on AI/ML or data engineering background, and experience leading cross-functional stakeholders, with familiarity in cloud or on-prem platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), lakehouse architectures, Spark/SQL, containers, API integration, and working knowledge of LLMs, RAG, and vector databases.
