Senior Cyber Security Engineer
Initial 6 Months Contract
Dublin - 3 Days On Site
My client is looking for an experienced Senior Cyber Security Engineer to play a key role in protecting and strengthening the organisation's IT environment on an initial 6 month contract with view for extension.
The Job:
- Manage and execute the organisation's patching and vulnerability management program across all systems and applications, ensuring timely remediation and compliance.
- Monitor and maintain security tools and platforms, including antivirus, endpoint protection, and email security systems (Microsoft Defender, EntraID, Intune, Exchange Online Protection, etc.).
- Oversee firewall, VPN, and network security configurations to ensure perimeter and internal network protection.
- Perform continuous threat and vulnerability assessments across servers, endpoints, and cloud environments.
- Investigate and respond to security incidents, coordinating remediation and root-cause analysis.
- Maintain and tune SIEM tools to ensure effective log monitoring, alerting, and response.
- Support and enforce security policies, standards, and best practices across the organisation.
- Collaborate with infrastructure and IT teams to ensure secure configurations of Windows Servers, Azure, and Microsoft 365 environments.
- Conduct regular security audits and penetration testing in collaboration with external partners.
- Stay informed on emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and new security technologies, applying them to improve resilience.
- Provide input on security strategy, roadmaps, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Have You:
- 5-7 years' experience in IT security operations, with strong exposure to Microsoft-based environments.
- In-depth experience with vulnerability management, patch deployment, and endpoint security.
- Proven expertise in email security, firewall administration, and network protection.
- Strong knowledge of security frameworks, standards, and best practices (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft security tools and platforms (Defender, Intune, Azure Security Center).
- Familiarity with SIEM systems, incident response processes, and forensic analysis techniques.
- Current and up-to-date CISSP certification required.
- Additional certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Security Operations Analyst, Microsoft Azure or CEH are advantageous.
Candidates must have the right to work and reside In Ireland.
