Role Overview

We are looking for a Junior Data Scientist to support data-driven initiatives by analysing data, building basic models, and delivering insights that support business and technical teams. This role is ideal for graduates or early-career professionals who have strong analytical foundations and a keen interest in machine learning and applied data science.

You will work under the guidance of senior data scientists and gain hands-on experience with real datasets, tools, and models.

Key Responsibilities

Data Analysis & Preparation

• Assist in collecting, cleaning, and preparing datasets for analysis
• Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) to identify trends and patterns
• Support feature engineering and data validation activities

Model Development & Evaluation

• Assist in building and testing basic machine learning models
• Support model evaluation, tuning, and performance tracking
• Apply statistical and analytical techniques under supervision

Reporting & Insights

• Translate analysis results into clear insights and summaries
• Assist in creating visualisations and reports for stakeholders
• Document findings, models, and methodologies

Collaboration & Learning

• Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and engineers
• Participate in code reviews, team meetings, and training sessions
• Continuously learn data science tools, methods, and best practices

Required Skills & Qualifications (Must Have)

• Basic to intermediate knowledge of:
• Python (NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib / Seaborn)
• Data analysis and statistical concepts
• Familiarity with:
• Machine learning fundamentals (regression, classification, clustering)
• Data visualisation techniques
• Understanding of:
• SQL or basic database querying
• Data cleaning and preprocessing
• Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving skills
• Good communication and documentation abilities

Preferred / Advantageous Skills

• Exposure to:
• Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch (basic level)
• Jupyter Notebooks
• Academic projects, internships, or coursework in:
• Data Science
• Machine Learning
• Artificial Intelligence
• Familiarity with:
• Git / version control
• Cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP – basic)

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in:
• Data Science
• Computer Science
• Mathematics / Statistics
• Engineering
• Or a related technical field

Certifications (Advantage)

• Entry-level or foundational certifications such as:
• Google Data Analytics
• IBM Data Science
• Microsoft Azure AI Fundamentals
