A Senior Backend Engineer participates in all relevant steps of designing and creating new systems. This process starts with involvement in the initial idea, planning, and design, and moves on to actual coding, documenting, and testing. It continues with the rollout, continuous maintenance and optimization, and support of the solution built.

These tasks are usually undertaken by a product team consisting of Software Engineers, plus other professionals sharing tasks and responsibilities. Each member carries out a particular step of the development process.

How you create impact

  • Develop and implement effective, secure, and maintainable software while upholding high standards of software craftsmanship, clean code, peer reviews, and pair programming.
  • Ensure comprehensive quality assurance through unit, integration, performance, and developer testing, including test automation, manual testing, and smoke tests.
  • Design, optimize, and maintain databases as well as build pipelines, middleware, and related infrastructure.
  • Identify opportunities for technical improvements, synergies, optimizations, and refactoring across systems and processes.
  • Collaborate closely with developers, product owners, business stakeholders, and analysts to evaluate features, plan work, and exchange insights into the business domain.
  • Operate, monitor, and support delivered products, including providing 3rd‑level support and handling special responsibilities such as release management.
  • Mentor other engineers, act as a technical point of contact, and contribute to a strong engineering culture.
  • Perform additional one‑time or ad‑hoc tasks assigned by the manager as needed.

What we would like you to bring

  • Over 5 years of experience in Java development within enterprise environments, with strong proficiency in Java SE 21.
  • Deep expertise in Spring technologies, including Spring Boot, Spring Core, Spring Data, and Spring Web.
  • Consistently applies clean code principles and modern software development practices such as TDD, BDD, ATDD, and pair programming.
  • Serves as a mentor and technical go‑to person, supporting colleagues’ growth and providing guidance on complex engineering topics.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, enabling effective troubleshooting and solution design.
  • Familiar with messaging and integration technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, Spring Integration, and Spring Batch.
  • Knowledge of supporting frameworks and tools including OpenAPI, JAXB, Jackson, Lombok, MapStruct, Jakarta Validation, TestContainers, and Kubernetes.
  • Experienced with key development and DevOps tools such as Maven, GitLab, Git, PostgreSQL, Confluence, Jira, and IntelliJ IDEA.
