We are announcing a fully funded 36-month PhD student position within the PROSPER project (https://cordis.europa.eu/project/id/101226678) at the National Institute of Chemistry, Ljubljana, Slovenia at the Department of Catalysis and Chemical Reaction Engineering (https://www.ki.si/en/departments/d13-department-of-catalysis-and-chemical-reaction-engineering/)

The topic of the PhD programme is atomistic and meso-scale modelling of photocatalytic reactions of C-H bond desaturation, using TD-DFT and KMC or mean-field kinetics.

The position starts at the latest on 1st October 2026 or sooner if desired.

Responsibilities

• Scientific research
• Scientific dissemination (publications, conference contributions, project reports)
• PhD thesis

We expect

• Fluency in English
• MSc in chemistry, chemical engineering, physics or similar
• Satisfactory command of Linux
• Experience in chemical modelling with DFT, KMC or MKM
• Highly motivated, resourceful and reliable candidates
